Founders Access Explained for MapleStory Classic

Updated 14 September 2026 with the package tiers, prices and deadlines from Nexon's own page.

MapleStory Classic founders access opens on 6 October 2026, and it comes with the two dearer of the three founders packages Nexon put on sale on 2 September. Everything in this post is from Nexon's founders package page and its FAQ, which is longer and more useful than most Nexon pages, so read it once yourself. The short version: pay $59.99 or more and you play from 6 October. Pay $29.99 and you get some cosmetics and wait for 21 October like everyone else.

We would rather quote the page than guess, and for once we do not have to.

Snail gets the Mark of the Founder hat in tan, the Glimmer effect, fifty Jr. Balrog Invasion transformations and the Well-Loved Outfit Set. Orange Mushroom adds the brown Mark, the Glow effect and the Founder's Thief Outfit Set. Zakum adds the black Mark, the Radiance effect, Manji's Outfit Set and the Founder's Chat and Label Rings. Pound prices are £25.99, £51.99 and £69.99.

Every item is cosmetic. Nexon's page says it twice: no stats, no bonuses, and any character of any job or gender can wear the outfit sets. The Jr. Balrog Invasion is a transformation item that lasts 90 days. The hats, effects, rings and outfits are permanent and untradeable once opened.

For Swedish buyers the site prices in euro, so the access tier is €59.99 and the top one €79.99, whatever the kronor works out to on the day.

How founders access actually works

It is a purchase, tied to the Nexon account that bought it. You buy on the Nexon site, or on Steam, where only the Zakum package is sold. On 6 October that account can play Classic World through the Nexon Launcher or Steam, no key needed, and everything you do during those two weeks carries over to the 21 October grand launch. The FAQ is explicit on that last point.

A few rules worth knowing before you click:

• The sale closes at 11:59 PM PDT on 14 October. After that there is no package to buy.
• Website purchases can be upgraded to a higher tier by paying the difference (Snail to Orange Mushroom is $30, Orange Mushroom to Zakum is $20). Steam purchases cannot be upgraded, and nothing can be downgraded.
• Items land in your in-game mailbox and must be claimed by 30 November, and you have to leave Maple Island before you can open them. Once claimed, you have 30 days to open the box.
• One package per account per platform, and gifting is not available.

If you buy on Steam, the listing is a package attached to the main MapleStory Steam app, so you will be launching through that. Our download post covers both routes.

Is it worth it for a casual player?

Here is where we get opinionated. It depends entirely on what "casual" means for you.

If casual means an hour or two a few nights a week, mostly to hit things with your friends, the head start does not buy you much. Two weeks matters to people racing to be first through Kerning PQ and first to whatever the launch build's top content turns out to be, not to someone who is going to spend the first month happily killing Zombie Lupins in Sleepywood. Come in on 21 October and you lose nothing except the cosmetics.

If casual means you play a lot but do not care about rankings, the calculation shifts. The first week of a fresh Maple world is genuinely special. Nobody has a Work Glove yet. Kerning PQ parties form in seconds. The Free Market has no stalls. Every scroll is a rumour. You cannot get that back later, and with founders it is two weeks of it before the free crowd arrives. If casual means you will try it, feel the old nostalgia, and quit after two weeks, and be honest with yourself here, do not buy. Wait for 21 October and see if it grabs you. The Snail package is the odd one out: $29.99 for cosmetics and no access, which only makes sense if you want the hat.

The economic angle

We should say the quiet part about founders. The people who get in early also set the early meso economy, and a fifteen-day lead is long enough that the founders crowd will be selling to the 21 October arrivals rather than trading among themselves. The gap that opens tends to persist, for reasons how mesos worked in old Maple goes into.

Our recommendation

We are buying the Orange Mushroom package. Both of us. Not because the Thief outfit is a bargain, and not because early access matters much at our pace, but because the first week of a fresh Maple world is something we have wanted to feel again for fifteen years, and €59.99 is a cheap price for that. The Zakum tier is €20 more for an outfit, two rings and a black hat, a fine purchase if you like the look and a pointless one if you do not. One of us still remembers standing in Henesys on the first night of a new world, every chat bubble a stranger, everyone level 8. That is what the package actually buys.
