Founders Access Explained for MapleStory Classic

How to get into MapleStory Classic on 6 October 2026, what a founders pack usually includes at Nexon launches, likely pricing, and whether it is worth it.

MapleStory Classic founders access opens on 6 October 2026, and as far as we can tell it is the only way to play on day one. What we cannot tell you yet, because Nexon has not said, is exactly how you get founders access, what it costs, or what comes in the box. This post is our best reading of the situation, built from how Nexon has handled early access before and what the word "founders" has come to mean across the industry. Treat the date as fact and everything else as informed guessing.

We would rather write that plainly than pretend we have a press kit nobody else has.

How founders access probably works

The most common model, and the one we expect, is a purchasable pack. You buy it from the official Classic site or through the Nexon launcher, it attaches to your Nexon account, and on 6 October that account can create characters on the Classic worlds while everyone else waits.

The other possibility is that founders access is granted rather than sold, for example to accounts that pre-registered or that have a certain history on the main game. Nexon has done account-history rewards before, mostly small ones. We think a paid pack is more likely, but we would not bet the guild bank on it.

What a founders pack normally contains

Looking at Nexon's recent launches and at MMO relaunches generally, founders packs tend to include some mix of the following:

  • Early access, usually three to seven days ahead of the general opening
  • A cosmetic item or outfit that is never sold again
  • A title or medal marking you as a founder
  • Some amount of cash-shop currency
  • Occasionally a character-slot or storage bump

What they almost never include, at least not in a game that wants to be taken seriously as a classic server, is anything that affects combat. No scrolls, no exp boosts, no meso. If the Classic pack ships with a 2x exp coupon, we will be surprised and a little disappointed, because the whole point of a classic server is that the grind is the game.

What it might cost

Founders packs in this space usually land somewhere between the price of a cheap game and the price of a full one. Nexon has sold tiered packs before, with a basic tier and a bigger one that bundles more currency and cosmetics. If Classic follows that, we would expect a lower tier that mostly buys the early access and a higher tier for people who want the cosmetics.

In kronor terms, think somewhere in the range of a couple of hundred to a bit under a thousand, depending on tier. That is a guess. If the actual price is wildly different from that, the guess was wrong, not the game.

Is it worth it for a casual player?

Here is where we get opinionated. It depends entirely on what "casual" means for you.

If casual means you will log in for an hour or two a few nights a week, mostly to hit things with your friends, the early access itself does not buy you much. A week of head start matters to people racing for the first Zakum Helmet, not to someone who is going to spend the first month happily killing Zombie Lupins in Sleepywood. You can come in with the general release and lose nothing except the cosmetic.

If casual means you play a lot but do not care about the top of the rankings, the calculation shifts. The first week of a fresh Maple world is genuinely special. Nobody has a Work Glove yet. Kerning PQ parties form in seconds. The Free Market has no stalls. Every Ilbi is a rumour. You cannot get that back later. We wrote about the economics of that first week in our first-week money guide.

If casual means you will try it, feel the old nostalgia, and quit after two weeks, and be honest with yourself here, do not buy the pack. Wait for the free opening and see if it grabs you.

The economic angle

We should say the quiet part about founders. The people who get in early also set the early meso economy, and the gap they open tends to persist, for reasons how mesos worked in old Maple goes into.

If you are curious what mesos are likely to trade at when the world is a week old, we keep a running view in our meso price post. One sentence on the other side of that: buying them breaks Nexon's rules and can cost you the account, so if you use the shop anyway, do it with your eyes open, and our honest take is where we argue that out properly.

Our recommendation

We are buying the pack. Both of us. Not because we think it is a bargain, and not because early access matters much at our pace, but because the first week of a fresh Maple world is something we have wanted to feel again for fifteen years, and a few hundred kronor is a cheap price for that. One of us still remembers standing in Henesys on the first night of a new world, every chat bubble a stranger, everyone level 8. That is what the pack actually buys.

If you decide to wait, that is a perfectly sane choice, and you should read our release date post for what we expect the general opening to look like. Either way, get your account and two-factor sorted this week (the download and install post walks through it), because the one thing worse than missing the head start is missing it because your login was broken.
