MapleStory Classic Release Date and What Founders Means

MapleStory Classic opens to founders on 6 October 2026. We cover what founders access likely means, when servers might open, and what to do before then.

The MapleStory Classic release date is 6 October 2026. That is the day founders access opens, and it is the only date Nexon has put in writing so far. If you are looking for the day you can log in and start slapping Snails outside Henesys, that is it, provided you have founders access. Everything past that single date, including what founders access costs, what time the servers come up, and when players without a founders pack get in, is still open.

We have been burned by launch promises before (anyone remember waiting for Pirates?), so we are going to be careful here and separate the fact from the guesswork.

What is actually confirmed

One thing. Founders get in on 6 October 2026. Nexon has said that much and we are treating it as solid.

What Nexon has not confirmed, at least not anywhere we can point to: the exact time of day, the timezone, the price of founders access, whether founders access is a pack you buy or a status you earn, and whether there is a second, general opening for everyone else. If you read a forum post that states any of those as fact, ask where it came from.

What "founders" probably means

In the last few years "founders" has usually meant a paid early-access tier, and Nexon has used that shape for its own launches, so a purchasable pack is our expectation, though it could just as easily be granted to pre-registered or existing accounts. Our founders access post goes through the pack pattern, the alternatives, and whether it is worth paying for if you only play a few evenings a week.

Is there a general release after 6 October?

We expect one. A launch that is permanently gated behind a purchase would be unusual for Maple, which has always lived on a big free-to-play population. Our guess, and it is only a guess, is that founders get somewhere between three days and a week of head start and then everyone else comes in.

That head start matters more in old Maple than in most games. The first players into a fresh world set the Free Market prices, grab the good training maps, and form the guilds that end up running Zakum later. If you were around for a fresh GMS world back in 2006 or 2007, you know how much of the early economy was decided in the first ten days. We cover that in our launch-day checklist.

What time will it open?

Nobody knows yet. Nexon's American servers historically ran maintenance and launches on Pacific time, which for those of us in Sweden means an evening or late-night opening. If Classic follows that habit, a 10:00 PDT launch would be 19:00 here, which is honestly ideal. A midnight Pacific launch would be 09:00 Swedish time, fine if you booked the day off, less fine otherwise.

We will update this post the moment a time is announced. Until then, plan for the possibility that it goes live while you are at work and that the first hour is a queue anyway.

What to do before 6 October

Get your account working, agree a world and a class with your friends now rather than in the character creation screen while the name you wanted gets taken, and go in with a group. Our week-before post is the full list, in the order we would do it.

One of us still has a notebook from 2007 with our old guild's Zakum sign-up list in it, half the names crossed out because they quit before we ever got to the altar. Go in with people you actually like.

Our honest expectation

We think the 6 October date holds. Nexon has been more careful with Classic than with some earlier projects, and a founders date is the sort of thing that gets announced when the build is close to done. We think a general release follows within a couple of weeks. We think the first month will be crowded, laggy, and the best month the game has had in fifteen years. We also think the queue on the first evening will be long enough to make tea during, and we mean that as a compliment to the game, not a complaint.

If you only take one thing from this post, take this: the date is real, the rest is still forming, and the best preparation is a working account and three friends who agreed on a world. Start with the founders post if you are deciding whether to pay for the head start.
