The Week Before Classic Opens, What to Sort Out First

Account recovery, two-factor, agreeing a world in writing, testing a Mac or Deck setup early, and the one economic reason the first fortnight matters most.

The week before a fresh Maple world opens is the calmest week you will get for a while, and most people waste it. Founders access to MapleStory Classic opens on 6 October 2026, and the things that ruin a launch night (a locked account, a friend on the wrong world, a client that has never been run) are all things you can fix in an evening now and cannot fix at all at 19:00 on the day. This is the list of what to sort out, in the order we would do it.

Nothing on it is clever. It is the stuff people forget and then regret on day three.

Account and client

Try logging into your Nexon account now, especially if it is an old one from the 2000s, because a password reset on a fifteen-year-old account can take days when the support queue is long. Turn on two-factor while you are in there, and make sure the account you sort out is the one you will actually play on. The download and install guide covers the client, the pre-download if there is one, and where the real download comes from, which is Nexon's own site and never a link in a Discord.

Picking a world

Decide on a world with your group before launch, in writing, in a channel everyone reads, and hold to it even if the world you chose has a queue. Nexon has not said how many worlds Classic will open with or whether there will be a European one, so make the rule now ("we go to the biggest one, whatever it is called") and fill in the name later. Our servers and worlds post goes through why the biggest world is nearly always the right answer.

If your group is bigger than five or six people, also agree who is making the guild and what it is called, because a guild cost mesos to found in the old game and the founder needed to be someone who would still be logged in at Christmas. Our guild post covers that side, and if you are going in without a group it is the post to read this week, not next month. The people who go in with a Discord full of friends are the ones still playing in December. The people who go in solo often are not.

Read up on the balance

If you have not played since the mid-2000s, spend an evening on how pre-Big Bang Maple actually worked, because a lot of it is not intuitive after fifteen years of modern games. Priest was a support class. Archers could not hit a monster standing on top of them. Skill points were permanent, so a wasted point stayed wasted, and there was no reset button. Pick a class before you get to the selection screen, with our class guide, and decide it with your friends, because a party of four Assassins is a fun idea for exactly one evening.

We had a guildie in 2006 who reached level 21 on launch day of a new world and then discovered he had put all his SP into the wrong beginner skill. He was fine. He just did not stop talking about it for a year.

Test everything once

This is the part nobody does. A few days before the 6th, sit down and run the whole setup one time as if it were launch night. Start the launcher and log in. If the client is available, open it, switch it to windowed mode, set your keybinds, and close it again. A client that has been run once will behave on the day. One that has not is a coin toss. Open the group's Discord and check you can see the channel where the world decision is written down. Then write your three character names on a piece of paper, in order, because the first one will be taken, and if Nexon does turn out to offer reservation, our name post will have the details.

If you are on a Mac, a Steam Deck or Linux, do this test earlier still, and do it seriously. The working assumption is Windows only through the launcher, and the anti-cheat is what usually stops a workaround, so our Mac and Steam Deck post says the same thing we will say here: the time to find out is before that day, not on it. If your setup fails the test, you have a week to borrow a laptop. On launch night you have nothing.

For the day itself, follow the launch day checklist hour by hour and the fastest route to 30 for the maps. Both end on the same advice we would give here: sleep after KPQ, not after your eyes stop working.

Why the first fortnight matters

A fresh Maple world has almost no mesos in it, so everything you earn in the first two weeks buys more than it will in month three, when supply has caught up and prices settle. How mesos worked in old Maple explains the whole cycle, and our meso price post tracks what that scarcity does on the real-money side.

You will see people selling mesos within hours of launch, and it is worth knowing before you see them that every version of that trade breaks Nexon's rules and can cost you the account. Our scam post is the one to read before anyone trades anything with anyone.

Our actual advice for week one is to play the game. The economy will still be there in a month. Log in with your friends, fight over the Snails, and take a screenshot of the Henesys crowd, because in two years you will want it.
