Classic Launch Day, Hour by Hour, From Queue to KPQ
Our MapleStory Classic launch day checklist for 6 October: login queue, name grab, first job at 10, where to be at 15 and 21, what to sell and when to sleep.
MapleStory Classic opens for founders on 6 October 2026. Nexon has not said what time of day the servers open, so the plan below runs from "hour zero", whenever that turns out to be. The short version: get through the queue, grab your name, hit 10 for your first job, be at Pigs by 15, be in Kerning by 21, sell scrolls and not shells, and go to bed before you make a stupid decision at 4 a.m.
This is our own plan for the day, written for two people who have done launch days before and got most of them wrong. Adjust for your class and your timezone.
Before hour zero
Have three things open before the doors are. The official Nexon announcement channel, so you hear about an emergency maintenance from Nexon rather than from a level 26 in party chat. Your guild's Discord, with the world decision pinned where everyone can see it. And a note of your potion budget, meaning the number of mesos you are willing to sink into Red Potions before you start holding the rest for a weapon. Decide that number now, while you are calm, because at hour eight you will not be.
Hour zero to one: the queue and the name
Assume a queue. Every Nexon launch in living memory has had one, and a nostalgia launch will have a bigger one than usual. Have the client patched and running before the doors open, not five minutes after. Our download and install guide covers the client side.
Decide on three names in advance, ranked, because the one you want will be gone and the second might be, and our name reservation post has what we know about whether reserving one early will be possible.
Pick your world before you log in, not on the character screen, and settle it with your friends using the servers and worlds post rather than a panic in the queue.
Hour one to three: Maple Island and level 10
Maple Island is fast and you should not linger. Leave at 7 or 8, or hit 8 and go straight to Ellinia if you are a Magician, and the fastest route to 30 has the map-by-map version. The launch-day note is that the island will be as crowded as it will ever be, so take whichever Snail map has room rather than the one the route names.
One rule for this window: do not sell your Maple Island drops to an NPC. Nothing there is worth much, but the equips you find will sell for more to a level 5 player who just landed than to any shop.
Hour three to six: level 10 to 15, Henesys
Take the job advancement, put your first points into the one attacking skill your class lives on, and head for the Henesys maps the route post lists.
Those maps will be a zoo on launch day. Every channel. Our honest advice is to accept that and go to the less popular hunting maps around Henesys and Ellinia where the exp is slightly worse but the monsters are actually alive when you get there.
Hour six to nine: level 15 to 21, Pigs
Pigs at 15 are the best exp you will see for a while, with Green Mushrooms south of Henesys as the fallback if the beach is full, and again the route post has the detail.
This is also the point where money starts to matter. Sell scrolls to players and never to an NPC, and NPC the shells and ribbons; the first-week money guide explains why a day-one glove scroll is worth more than it will ever be again, and the farming post has the full habit. Hang on to Work Gloves too.
Hour nine to twelve: Kerning City at 21
Be in Kerning by 21. Kerning Party Quest, from Lakelis down in the subway, is the best thing to do from 21 to 30 and it is also where the launch day social scene will be. On launch night the platform will be a wall of "j>pq" and parties will form faster than you can read them, so take the first sensible invite rather than waiting for a perfect one. Our KPQ guide has the stage-by-stage version and what to hit if nothing is forming.
Somewhere in this window you will want to buy a better weapon. Do not spend everything. Keep enough for potions and hold the rest, because prices on day one are inflated by people who do not know what anything is worth.
When to sleep
Sleep after KPQ or at 30, whichever comes first. Seriously. The people who played 20 hours straight on old launch days did not end up meaningfully ahead, they ended up level 33 and grumpy, and they lost half of the second day recovering. The exp curve past 30 does not care about your first-night heroics.
If you cannot bring yourself to log off, at least stop making decisions. Do not buy anything, do not scroll anything, do not drop-trade with anyone. Every launch scam we have seen happened after midnight to someone who was tired, and our scam guide is worth ten minutes before the day.
Day two, briefly
Wake up, check the Free Market, and see what the first-night sellers left behind. The first morning is when prices are strangest. People who hit 30 overnight are dumping the level 10 and 15 gear they no longer need, often for less than an NPC pays, while the ones who found a Work Glove are asking numbers they made up in the queue. Buy the cheap gear if you need it, ignore the made-up numbers, and note what scrolls are actually going for, because that is the baseline you will price your own against for the rest of the week.
Then go back to Kerning and finish KPQ to 30. The fastest route to 30 post picks up from there with per-level maps.
And check the official channels once more before you log in. Launch days ship with surprises, and if there is a 2x event or a server merge nobody wants to find out about it from party chat at level 26.
