MapleStory Classic Founders Items, How to Claim Them

How MapleStory Classic founders items are delivered: the mailbox, leaving Maple Island first, the 30 November deadline, the box timer, and the test rings.

MapleStory Classic founders access opens today, 6 October 2026, and the first question on Discord will be where the package items are. The short answer, from Nexon's founders FAQ: they are delivered automatically to your in-game mailbox on your first login, you cannot open them until you have left Maple Island, you have until 30 November to claim them, and once claimed you have 30 days to open the box. No coupon codes, no redemption page. Everything below is that FAQ, read closely, plus the two other sets of launch items people forget they earned.

Step by step

  1. Log in to Classic World with the account that bought the package. Founders access and the items are tied to that account, and nothing transfers.
  2. Make a character and play through Maple Island. The FAQ is explicit that you "will need to leave Maple Island before you can open your Founder's Package". Sail with Shanks at level 8 or so, as the level 1 to 30 route suggests anyway.
  3. Open the mailbox and claim the package. The package itself is a box with a 30-day duration that is tradable within your account.
  4. Open the box on the character you mean to keep. The hats, effects, rings and outfit set items that come out are permanent and untradeable, but they can be moved to other characters on the same account and world through the Cash Inventory.

The deadline that matters is 30 November 2026 at 11:59 PM UTC. Unclaimed items expire. The 30-day timer on the box only starts when you claim it from the mailbox, so if you are not sure which character is your main yet, leave the box in the mail until you are.

Which character gets it

The box is tradable within your account, so you do not have to open it on your first character. Our advice is to wait until your main is settled, which for most people means after the class decision has survived a few levels. A Mark of the Founder on a level 12 Warrior you abandon on day three is a wasted hat, and while the outfit pieces can be moved through the Cash Inventory afterwards, it is less faff to open the box once, in the right place.

If you upgrade your package after founders access starts (website purchases only, Steam cannot upgrade), the extra items from the higher tier arrive as a separate delivery on your next login, and nothing you already claimed is duplicated.

Steam versus the Nexon website

The Zakum package can be bought once per account per platform, once on the website and once on Steam, and the FAQ notes a single purchase grants everything. If you bought on Steam you can play through Steam or the Nexon Launcher on the same account, and the package still lands in the same mailbox. Our download post covers the two launchers; the item delivery does not care which you use.

The rings from the closed tests

If you were in either closed online test, you have items waiting that are not in any package. The test page says players who reached level 10 and completed "A Strange and Familiar Wood" earned a Classic Beginnings Label Ring, and level 15 with "Beyond the Unknown" earned a Classic Beginnings Chat Ring, claimable "on your account in MapleStory Classic World when it officially launches", with a second set for people who did both tests. Nexon's April test notes confirmed the chat ring reward carries over to launch for accounts that completed the quest. Check the mailbox for these too. A chat ring on a fresh server is a small flex, and small flexes are what a fresh server runs on.

The collaboration outfit, and its own dates

The Signature Style Collection, the collaboration with Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, has a different schedule and is easy to miss. It is on sale until 7 October, it is delivered during the grand launch rather than during founders access, and the FAQ says you can pick it up from the mailbox after leaving Maple Island from 23 October until 3 November at 11:59 PM UTC. After that it is gone. The coupons and the resulting items cannot be traded in Classic World, so buy it on the account that will wear it.

Things that catch people out

The package items are cosmetic. Nexon says it three times on the page: no stats, no bonuses. If someone in Henesys tells you the Founder's Thief Dagger has attack on it, they have not read the tooltip.

Do not sell or drop the box. It looks like an item, it sits in your inventory like an item, and a tired player on day one can NPC it. One of us once vendored a Maple anniversary box in 2007 while clearing inventory at Kerning and spent a week pretending it had not happened.

And do not let anyone "help you claim it". There is nothing to help with. It is in your mailbox. Anyone offering to log in and sort it for you is running the oldest scam in the game, and our scam post explains how that ends.

The rest of today belongs to the launch day checklist. Claim the box when your main is settled, wear the hat, and get to Kerning City by 21.
