Selling Your MapleStory Classic Mesos, How It Works
How selling MapleStory Classic mesos for real money works, when the price is best, the ban risk, how to spot fake buyers, and what a clean trade looks like.
Founders have had MapleStory Classic to themselves for twelve days, the free launch is three days away, and some of you are sitting on more mesos than one character will spend. Selling them for real money is a thing people do, we are one of the shops that buys, and this post is the honest version of how it works, including the part where it breaks Nexon's rules. We would rather you read this before you answer the first whisper offering to buy.
When the price is best
The first weeks. That is the whole answer, and it is the opposite of the advice we give buyers. On every fresh Maple world we have watched since 2005, mesos were worth the most in real money in the opening month and got cheaper for the rest of the server's life, because supply grows every day and demand does not. Our meso price post has the curve.
For a seller that means the founders fortnight and the first weeks after 21 October are the peak. A player who farmed the Sleepywood dungeon hard for two weeks and sells the surplus now gets a rate that will not exist in December. After that, the price falls with every high-level character that reaches the good maps, and once Orbis and El Nath open the drop steepens.
The rules, and the risk
Selling mesos for money is against Nexon's terms of service, and always has been. We do not dress that up. Accounts can be banned for it, and in old GMS the sellers were caught before the buyers, usually in waves, usually after someone traded a huge sum in a public place. Our honest take on buying is where we lay the risk out properly, and everything there applies in reverse to you.
What we can say is how we handle our side. We trade in small amounts, from established characters, in the ordinary trade window, and we never mention the sale in chat. We ask sellers to do the same. If losing the character would ruin the game for you, do not sell.
How it works with us
The process is on the sell page, and it is short.
- Add mscollectors on Discord and send a message. Tell us the world and how much you want to sell.
- We answer within support hours with a rate and the payment options. If you accept, we agree a time.
- We meet in game, you trade the mesos in the normal trade window, and we pay the same day by PayPal or USDT.
There is a minimum amount, listed on that page, because tiny trades are not worth the risk to either side. Rates track the Free Market rather than other meso shops: every few days we check what a Chaos Scroll, a Work Glove and a stack of good throwing stars cost in game and set the price so that real money buys roughly what a hard week of play does.
Fake buyers, and how to spot them
The moment you have mesos, people will offer to buy them, and most of the ones who whisper you first are not buyers. The patterns from old Maple all still apply.
The pay-after buyer. "Trade me the mesos now and I will PayPal you tonight." There is no escrow in Maple and there is no tonight.
The impersonator. A Discord account with a name one character off a real shop's, messaging you directly. A real shop does not contact you first. Check the exact name on the shop's own site against the one in your inbox. Ours is mscollectors, and we never message first.
The drop trader. "The trade window is bugged, drop it on the ground." It was a lie in 2006 and it is a lie now.
The screenshot. A picture of a completed payment is a picture. Wait for the money to be in your account before you open a trade window, or use a buyer who pays the moment the trade closes and has a track record you can find.
Our scam post covers each of these in detail, and one of us got taken by the pay-after version with a set of Ilbis in 2006, so it is written from experience.
What a clean trade looks like
Boring, on purpose. The amount and the rate are agreed in writing before anyone logs in. The buyer's character is one you can look up, not a level 5 made that morning. You meet somewhere quiet, not the Henesys market. The trade window opens, the mesos go in, both sides confirm, and the payment arrives the same day by the method you chose. If any step changes after the window opens, close it and go back to the chat. A real buyer will not mind.
Should you sell at all
Probably not most of it. Mesos on a fresh server buy more in game than they ever will again, and a stockpile held until the first content patch is worth a lot to the character that has it. Our 30 to 70 money guide is about earning them, and its last section is about why holding is often smarter than selling.
Sell if you have a genuine surplus, if you are quitting, or if you play two characters and one of them is rich. Sell in the first weeks rather than later. Sell to a buyer you can name, in small trades, and tell nobody. And read the rules paragraph twice before you do any of it, because it is your account and not ours.
